STRIKE FOR THE RIGHT TO STRIKE

May 1, 2028

“They say, ‘the only illegal strike is a failed strike.’

In 2028, workers have an unmatched opportunity. The UAW has called for aligned contract expirations on May Day—to build leverage. That’s a powerful step—and we stand with them. It shows what unity across sectors can achieve.

The Nation

But let’s be clear: aligning contract end dates is not a full general strike in the classic sense. It’s a tactical move – it keeps action tied to employer bargaining, not directed at transforming labor laws.

What we should be calling for is action that goes further: a true general strike, led by workers across all industries – union and non-union—not just halting work, but forcing Congress to amend the NLRA and repeal Taft-Hartley – so that political and solidarity strikes are legally protected.

Imagine it: on May 1, 2028, millions of workers walk out—not for one contract, but for a law that protects all of us – a law that says: you can strike for justice, for democracy, for the future.

We believe in what the UAW has started – but not stop at half measures, let’s go all the way. If we walk together – across sectors, across states, across workplaces-the billionaire class and Congress will have to listen.

We’re not just asking for higher wages-we’re demanding the right to use every means possible to win -not just from one employer, but from the system that holds employers in place.

This is solidarity. This is strategy. This is how we win freedom – not just for ourselves, but for generations to come.”

General Strike May 1st 2028

STRIKE FOR THE RIGHT TO STRIKE

Repeal Taft-Hartley. Amend the NLRA. Reclaim Our Power.

For nearly a century, U.S. labor law has silenced the most powerful tool workers have: the right to strike for political change and in solidarity with each other. While workers around the world can walk off the job to oppose war, demand healthcare, or support other strikers, American workers are still shackled by corporate-written laws like the Taft-Hartley Act of 1947 and the weakened National Labor Relations Act (NLRA).

We say: No more.

On May 1, 2028, workers across the country will rise together in a mass general strike to demand that Congress:

  • Amend the NLRA – to protect the right of all workers, union or not, to strike over political issues and legislative demands.
  • Repeal or amend the Taft-Hartley Act – to restore the right of unions to organize solidarity strikes without legal punishment, fines, or intimidation.

But to win, we must prepare now.

OUR FOUR-PHASE STRATEGY

PHASE 1: ORGANIZE TO WIN THE 2026 MIDTERMS

We need a supermajority in Congress—290 in the House and 67 in the Senate—to override any presidential veto. That means electing bold, pro-labor candidates who commit to striking down anti-worker laws.

  • Help identify vulnerable seats.
  • Volunteer, donate, and canvass in key districts.
  • Push unions and coalitions to endorse candidates who support labor freedom.

PHASE 2: BUILD STRIKE INFRASTRUCTURE (2026–2028)

We must lay the groundwork to make the 2028 General Strike real and powerful.

  • Form strike committees in your workplace, union, school, congregation, or neighborhood.
  • Educate workers about the risks, the goals, and the history of labor struggle.
  • Create mutual aid hubs and strike funds to support workers who walk out.
  • Build alliances across sectors—teachers, nurses, warehouse workers, grocery clerks, app drivers, tenants, and more.

PHASE 3: STRIKE – MAY 1, 2028

This is the day we withhold our labor—not just for wages or contracts, but to demand democratic control of our working lives.

  • Shut down cities, ports, services, and industries.
  • Flood the streets with mass demonstrations.
  • Deliver our demands to every member of Congress.
  • Show the country that the working class will no longer be ignored.

PHASE 4: WIN IN NOVEMBER 2028

If the President vetoes our demands, we’ll turn strike momentum into an electoral wave.

  • Replace every lawmaker who stood in our way.
  • Elect a pro-labor President.
  • Enshrine the right to strike—for politics, for solidarity, for justice.

THIS IS A MOVEMENT FOR OUR FUTURE

This is not just about one day—it’s about reclaiming a right that never should have been taken away. The U.S. once led the world in militant labor organizing. Now, we fight to lead again.

Join the fight. Build the strike. Rewrite the rules.
